My baby is 7!

Dear Morgan,

Happy 7th Birthday!  We have a lot to celebrate this year with all you have grown and learned.  Not only were you an enthusiastic traveler, but soccer and legos have become new passions of yours.  We have loved watching your skills and teamwork blossom this fall on your soccer team, The Cardinals!  Seeing your huge grin (missing a couple teeth) when you would score a goal, or the way you would happily dribble the ball three blocks down to the park for practice, chatting along the way, makes me so proud.  You are also becoming a master Lego builder, with great concentration and creativity.  I love seeing the little engineer inside you at work.

We had another fun round of festivities in celebration of the day you were born.  The day before your birthday, though, we did the Buddy Walk as a family in support of Nicole and her family. Though you don't know how lucky you are, how we all are, and how important it is to support others who are different, I appreciate your kindness and respect in doing this event every year.

For your birthday,  you wanted to try miniature golf for the first time.  We found a very old, dilapidated mini golf course but you loved it and having your family around to play along with you.  We all had a lot of laughs as we putted our way around the course on a very hot September day!  The best was seeing your toothless grin as you blew out the candles on your birthday cake - a carrot cake which you helped make.

This year you had your first friends' party away from home: at the Playground Gym.  All your friends loved getting out their energy and you loved having a big crowd to help you celebrate.  You are so lucky to have wonderful friends in your life!

I think seven may be my new favorite age, because you are such a delight to be around!  You have so much to teach me and I love your enthusiasm for learning and playing and friendship.  You also continue to impress me with what a great big sister and leader you are in our family.  Sasha is lucky to have you to look up to and learn from!

I don't know how much longer I get to blog about you, though, as you are fast becoming your own person, and I need to respect your individuality and feelings when it comes to writing here.  But hopefully you won't mind me telling the world (or a little, tiny piece of it) how wonderful I think you are.  Thank you for being the one and only Morgan.  I love you, forever and always.  Just the way you are.

Love,
Mommy
