I knew we were lucky that we made it through the winter (and two big vacations) without the girls getting really sick. Other than a yearly check-up at the doctor, the girls hadn't been to see the pediatrician all winter! Well, surprise! It's never to late to get sick, apparently. April had plenty of sick days, first with a nasty cruddy virus that took both girls down for an entire week. And later, a lovely painful case of hand-foot-and-mouth disease that first went to Sasha (who was in agony for a couple days with mouth sores and fever) and then hit Morgan (but not as bad) a few days later. So, yes we have been to the pediatrician and urgent care and pharmacy enough to make up for those winter months!

And speaking of winter, it seems like a distant memory now that we have had such a surprisingly nice spring. This week, the weather has been in the 70s and 80s, so I have really been enjoying our back yard, doing a lot of gardening, and getting ready to plant veggies. The change of seasons always amazes me, because on days like this, I can never seem to remember when the sun didn't rise until after 7am, the trees had no leaves, or that it was cloudy and rainy and cold all day. Now that (it feels like) summer is here (I know it's not for real though!), it seems perfectly normal to be wearing flip flops and having the doors wide open and the sun shining in. The girls and I were so happy to be out of the house, we went to Jamison Square to play in the "water mountain" (as Sasha calls it)! Sun is good for the soul!

| Naomi is in my living room! Cheers! |
But the best surprise of all in April was having Sam pull of the best gift ever of flying in my best friend from Texas on my birthday!!! I could not believe it when I saw Naomi standing on my porch, when my brain was telling me she was supposed to be in Dallas. Happy tears, some screaming and many hugs convinced me that she really was here! I am still amazed Sam not only made it all work and everyone kept it a secret, but that he was so thoughtful and kind to make both Naomi and I very happy. He is amazing. Naomi and I got to hang out all afternoon, evening, spend the night in a hotel, laugh, talk, and get pedicures the next day. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday or even imagined receiving a gift that was so perfect and made me feel SO loved. Thank you, Sam!! (and everyone who was in on the secret!)
